On 24 February, a symposium titled “Unlocking the Cipher of the Future: Artificial Intelligence, Security, and Digital Transition” was held, organised by Western Caspian University in partnership with the Association of Cybersecurity Organisations of Azerbaijan (AKTA). The event served as an important platform for discussing developments in artificial intelligence, emerging cybersecurity challenges, and key directions of digital transformation.
Professor Huseyn Bagirov, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, highlighted the role of higher education in the digital era and emphasised the importance of maintaining a balance between innovation and security.
Professor Gene Tsudik, invited under the Fulbright Programme, delivered a presentation on security and privacy challenges in artificial intelligence systems. During his visit, he also conducted a two-week course at the university, sharing practical knowledge and experience with students and AKTA experts.
Rauf Jabarov, Executive Director of AKTA, spoke about the role of artificial intelligence within the cybersecurity ecosystem, the importance of developing qualified professionals, and the broader impact of AI on the economy and society. He also highlighted the future opportunities for Azerbaijan and emphasised the importance of strengthening efforts in this strategic area.
The symposium also brought together academic delegations representing various higher education institutions. Faculty members and students actively participated in the discussions, and the importance of future joint initiatives and cooperation was emphasised at the conclusion of the event.
