The Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (ACOA) has been chosen as a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Computer Incident Response Centers (OIC-CERT) cooperation platform.
ACOA's candidacy was nominated by the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, the official representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan in OIC-CERT and a full member of the network. ACOA, admitted to the organization under the "general membership" category, fully satisfied the stipulated membership criteria. These criteria encompass active and effective participation in international conferences in the field, the presence of researchers and research groups, organization of events, seminars and training sessions related to cybersecurity and information security. Additionally, meeting public advisory needs in the relevant direction, organizing public information and awareness campaigns, participating in the formulation of legislative projects and supporting such initiatives were key considerations for membership.
It is noteworthy that in 2005, at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), there was a proposal to establish OIC-CERT with the aim of fostering global cooperation to enhance the collective resilience against cyber threats among member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Presently, the network boasts over 50 members representing 29 countries across diverse categories.
