The 6th Summit of IT Leaders of State Institutions Held

With the support of the e-Governance Academy of Estonia (eGA), the Special State Protection Service (SSPS) organized the 6th Summit of IT Leaders of State Institutions. The event aimed to facilitate experience sharing among senior officials responsible for information security in government bodies, as well as to discuss sector-specific challenges and emerging opportunities. Representatives from more than 70 state institutions attended the summit.

The Association of Cybersecurity Organisations of Azerbaijan was represented at the Summit by its Chairman of the Board, Panah Musayev.

Opening the event, Deputy Chief of the SSPS, Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, welcomed the participants and emphasized in his address that information security is no longer merely a technical issue but a matter of national security, economic stability, and public trust. Highlighting the increasing risks driven by deepening digitalization, he noted that according to global statistics, over 40% of cyberattacks targeting government institutions in the first half of 2024 were directed at critical infrastructure. He also underlined the importance of the country’s first “Bug Bounty” program and stressed the need for closer cooperation between government institutions and the private sector.

The discussions concluded with a focus on incentivizing the work of public servants in the field, sharing examples of cyber incidents, reviewing new trends and threats, and addressing challenges faced by government institutions. An open debate session provided participants with an opportunity to exchange experiences and propose joint solutions.

The Summit of IT Leaders of State Institutions serves as an important platform for strengthening cooperation among government agencies in the field of information security, discussing innovations, and defining future action plans.
