A roundtable discussion on the topic of "Cybersecurity in the Energy Sector" has been held.

On December 10, 2024, a roundtable meeting dedicated to the topic of "Cybersecurity in the Energy Sector" was organized by the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (ACOA). The meeting focused on ensuring cybersecurity in the energy sector, identified as one of the critical information infrastructure sectors, and discussed existing capabilities, challenges, threats, and measures to combat them.

The event was attended by senior officials and representatives responsible for the relevant field from the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service, the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Energy, the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources, the State Agency for Regulation of Energy Issues, AzerEnergy JSC, and other relevant organizations and institutions, as well as member companies of ACOA.

During the roundtable meeting, discussions were held on mechanisms for regulatory oversight in the field, the implementation of existing normative legal acts to ensure the security of critical information infrastructure, as well as the execution of relevant strategies and action plans. Topics such as combating cyber threats, managing cyber incidents, developing local cybersecurity products and solutions, strengthening human resource capacity, facilitating information exchange, and organizing effective collaboration were also addressed. Additionally, the implementation of awareness-raising initiatives was discussed, and several proposals were put forward.

As part of the event, participants were introduced to the cyber threat information exchange platform developed by the National Cybersecurity Center of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which acts as the authorized body in ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure and combating cyber threats. The platform's capabilities were also presented during the session.

Considering that addressing the discussed issues—particularly ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure and combating cyber threats—requires a more comprehensive approach and effective collaboration, as well as the importance of discussing challenges related to the implementation of regulatory mechanisms in the field with the involvement of relevant stakeholders, it was deemed appropriate to organize similar sectoral meetings on a regular basis in the future.
