On November 6th of this year, public discussions on the topic of "Return to Western Azerbaijan" were held at the Baku Congress Center, organized by the State Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the event, Panah Musayev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (ACOA), delivered a speech highlighting the distorted information and provocational threats observed in the cyber space regarding the topic of Western Azerbaijan. He emphasized the importance of accompanying the return process with preparations from a cybersecurity perspective.
Panah Musayev also provided information about the project "Support for Organizing Work with Transnational Internet Corporations in the Context of Combating Hybrid Threats," which is being implemented by ACOA with the support of the Agency.
In his speech, he referred to the "Cyber Sovereignty" conference held on May 21 of this year, organized by ACOA with the main partnership of the National Cybersecurity Center of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He noted that discussions involving government agencies, the academic community, industry specialists, and entrepreneurs regarded cybersecurity as an integral part of national security.
Panah Musayev pointed out that the return process to Western Azerbaijan could potentially become a target for cyberattacks, underscoring the necessity of planning a digital defense architecture in this regard.
In conclusion, he reminded the participants of the statement made by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at a gathering dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, which stated, “…if adequate attention is not paid to this area, no other defense measures can protect us from major problems.” He reiterated the strategic importance of ensuring cybersecurity for the attendees.
